Wedding Questions, Answered
Planning a wedding should feel as unhurried as the day itself. We’ve gathered the questions couples ask us most — about our packages, pricing, vendors, weather plans and the wedding weekend experience — so you can find everything in one place. If you don’t see your question here, we’d love to hear from you. Call (859) 214-2144 or email hello@stayrosehillinn.com, and our team will respond within one business day.
Guest Count & Packages
Rose Hill Inn, a historic estate wedding venue in Versailles, Kentucky, hosts weddings of up to 75 guests. We offer three experiences to fit your celebration: the Grand Estate Wedding Weekend for up to 75 guests, the Signature Micro-Wedding for up to 30 guests, and the Timeless Elopement for up to 15 guests.
The Grand Estate Wedding Weekend is our full experience: up to 75 guests, a private Friday–Sunday weekend, six historic suites for two nights, and a 30×40 reception tent. The Signature Micro-Wedding is designed for up to 30 guests, with eight hours of private event time, three suites for two nights, and both ceremony and reception on-site. The Timeless Elopement is our most intimate option, for up to 15 guests, with five hours of access and one historic suite for two nights. All three include a dedicated Venue Coordinator and wedding furniture; the Signature Micro-Wedding and Timeless Elopement also include a custom wedding cake.
Yes. The Grand Estate Wedding Weekend is available on select dates throughout the year, and the Timeless Elopement is available year-round, including Sunday–Thursday dates. The Signature Micro-Wedding is offered on select non-peak dates. Reach out to our team for current availability, as dates are limited and booked in advance.
Pricing & Payment
Pricing at Rose Hill Inn starts at $3,200 for the Timeless Elopement (up to 15 guests), $5,200 for the Signature Micro-Wedding (up to 30 guests), and $10,500 for the Grand Estate Wedding Weekend (up to 75 guests). Final pricing depends on guest count, date, and any additional enhancements you choose.
To reserve your date at Rose Hill Inn, we require a 25% retainer at the time of booking. The remaining balance is split into two payments: 50% is due 9 months before your wedding date, and the final 25% is due 90 days before your wedding day.
Rose Hill Inn hosts only 15 Grand Estate Wedding Weekends each year, so a single cancellation or late postponement represents a significant loss of opportunity for a date we can no longer fill. Because of this, all payments made toward your wedding are non-refundable in the event of a cancellation. Once your 50% payment is made at the 9-month mark, we are no longer able to reasonably rebook your date, which is why this payment structure is firm. If you need to postpone rather than cancel, we will credit everything you’ve already paid toward a new date, though pricing for the new date will reflect our current rates at that time rather than the rates in effect when you originally booked.
Your package price covers everything listed in your signed Wedding Agreement. The package price does not include gratuity, sales tax, or any upgrades you choose to add. Outside vendors such as your caterer, bar service and florist bill you directly.
What's Included
Every Rose Hill Inn wedding package includes a dedicated Venue Coordinator, wedding furniture (tables and chairs), overnight accommodations in our historic suites, and breakfast together the following morning. The Signature Micro-Wedding and Timeless Elopement packages also include a custom wedding cake, along with linens, tableware, and water goblets. The Grand Estate Wedding Weekend additionally includes a 30×40 reception tent and guest shuttle service.
Yes, for weddings of 30 guests and under. The Signature Micro-Wedding and Timeless Elopement include the Inn’s vintage-inspired pink floral china, along with linens, flatware and glassware. For the Grand Estate Wedding Weekend, tables and chairs are provided, and your caterer or rental company supplies china, linens and serveware.
It depends on your package. For the Signature Micro-Wedding and Timeless Elopement, coordination is included: the Rose Hill Inn team handles your wedding coordination through the day itself, so there’s no need to hire an outside coordinator.
For the Grand Estate Wedding Weekend, at least a day-of coordinator is required, and you have two options. You can hire a professional day-of coordinator from an insured wedding planning company, or the Rose Hill Inn team can provide day-of-coordination your wedding for an additional $950. You’ll make this choice when you sign your Wedding Agreement.
Rose Hill Inn sets up and removes the venue-owned furniture and items included in your package. Your décor, florals, signage, favors, rentals and personal items are set up and removed by your planner, florist or the responsible vendor. Caterers and bar services clean their own service areas. All non-venue items must leave the property within the approved load-out time.
Food, Drinks & Vendors
Catering, florals, entertainment, and alcohol are not included in your Rose Hill Inn package price. We’re happy to share our preferred vendor list, though you’re not required to use it — you’re welcome to choose your own vendors. We do require that all catering be full-service, and that every vendor you bring on-site be a licensed and insured business. Vendor licensing and insurance information must be provided to us prior to your wedding.
Yes. Rose Hill Inn does not sell or serve alcohol, so all alcohol must be served by a licensed and insured outside bar service approved by our team. Your bar service handles the bar setup, ice, mixers, cups, service and cleanup.
No. Rose Hill Inn staff don’t prepare, serve or clear food, and they don’t cut or serve the cake. That’s why we require a full-service caterer. Even when your package includes a custom cake, please confirm with your caterer who will cut and serve it and who brings the plates and forks.
For larger weddings | Outside rentals can be delivered one day prior to your wedding and must be picked up one day after your wedding. Items cannot be stored any longer at Rose Hill Inn without our written approval. Your planner or rental company should be on-site to receive, set up and pick up rented items.
For smaller weddings under 30, please coordinate with the venue coordinator to ensure a proper drop-off and pick-up time.
The Wedding Weekend Experience
A Grand Estate Wedding Weekend at Rose Hill Inn begins Friday afternoon, when you and your guests arrive, settle into the suites, and gather for a rehearsal. Saturday brings breakfast together, time to get ready in our private bridal preparation space, the ceremony, and your reception under our tented lawn. On Sunday morning, everyone gathers one final time for breakfast before saying goodbye. Smaller packages, like the Signature Micro-Wedding and Timeless Elopement, follow a similarly relaxed, unhurried structure on a shorter timeline.
Yes. Rose Hill Inn’s wedding packages include overnight stays in our historic suites, so you can spend your wedding weekend together under one roof rather than dispersing to separate hotels. The Grand Estate Wedding Weekend includes all six suites for two nights; smaller packages include a subset of suites sized to your celebration.
Yes. Rose Hill Inn has a bridal getting ready area for hair, makeup and a calm start to your day, with room for your attendants. The bright, elegant rooms also make a beautiful backdrop for getting-ready photos. Since you spend the night here, you can begin as early as you and your bridal party need to start getting ready.
The Grand Estate Wedding Weekend includes rehearsal time on-site on Friday. Your wedding planner or day-of coordinator directs the rehearsal itself, including the processional and ceremony cues. Your Rose Hill Inn Venue Coordinator makes sure the space is ready and answers any property questions.
Yes. Couples and their photographer have full access to the property and gardens for photos, from the historic 1823 architecture to the gardens and cozy interior nooks. The only area excluded from use is the kitchen and Inn Keepers apartment, which is separate from guest areas.
Ceremony, Weather & Setting
For the Grand Estate Wedding Weekend, your ceremony takes place in the garden, cocktail hour is held inside the Inn, and your reception is hosted in our tented space, which includes sidewalls for coverage and comfort. Reception cannot be held indoors for this package.
For our smaller Signature Micro-Wedding and Timeless Elopement packages, the ceremony is usually held in the garden as well, with the reception following indoors in the Inn’s living room or dining room. We monitor weather forecasts closely in the days leading up to your wedding so we can plan ahead.
We monitor weather forecasts closely as your wedding approaches so we can be as prepared as possible. For the Grand Estate Wedding Weekend, if it rains, the ceremony can be held under our tent, which includes sidewalls for protection. Cocktail hour then moves inside the Inn while the tent is reset, and your reception follows back in the tent. Only in the case of severe weather, such as heavy lightning, would we move to a modified ceremony and reception in the Inn’s living room or dining room as a last resort.
Yes, for the Signature Micro-Wedding and Timeless Elopement. The Inn’s living room and dining room offer historic charm and natural light for an intimate indoor ceremony in any weather. For the Grand Estate Wedding Weekend, the ceremony is held in the garden, with the tent as the rain plan.
Your safety comes first. A tent is not safe shelter during lightning, so if thunder is heard or lightning is within about six miles, everyone moves inside the Inn. Outdoor activities resume 30 minutes after the last thunder or lightning. In extreme heat, we may shift the ceremony time, add cooling breaks or move parts of the event indoors. Our Venue Manager makes all weather-safety decisions, and we’ll walk you through the full plan before your wedding.
Guests, Accommodations & Accessibility
Rose Hill Inn sleeps up to 14 guests total, including the couple, across our six historic suites. Five suites feature a king bed, and one suite includes both a king and a full bed.
Rose Hill Inn offers on-site parking for 10 or more vehicles, and the Grand Estate Wedding Weekend package includes guest shuttle service for larger celebrations.
Rose Hill Inn is at 233 Rose Hill Avenue in Versailles, Kentucky, in the heart of Bluegrass horse country and along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. The closest airport is Blue Grass Airport (LEX) in Lexington, about 10 minutes away.
Events end at the time listed in your Wedding Agreement. At that time, guests who aren’t staying overnight depart, and outdoor spaces close for the night. Overnight guests are welcome to relax inside the Inn. Timeless Elopements end by 4PM, Signature Micro-Weddings end by 8PM, and Grand Estate Wedding Weekends end by 10 PM.
If children attend, please plan for a sitter or a designated adult to look after them, as Rose Hill Inn staff are unable to provide childcare or watch after their safety while visiting our property.
Due to the historic character of our 1823 Federal-style property, Rose Hill Inn is not wheelchair accessible for wedding ceremonies or receptions. The garden, tented reception space, and pathways across the grounds are not wheelchair accessible, and the historic main building has additional barriers, including steps at all entrances and narrow interior hallways. We’re not able to make structural changes to accommodate wheelchair access without compromising the property’s historic integrity. If you have guests with mobility needs, please contact our team directly so we can talk through your specific situation. You can also read our full Accessibility Statement for more detail on the property.
Yes, your dog is welcome to be part of your ceremony and photos at Rose Hill Inn, with a few requirements. Due to our insurance policy, dogs must be 50 pounds or under, must be leashed, and must have a dedicated handler with them at all times while on the property. Handlers are responsible for cleaning up after the dog.
If you’d like to include your fur baby in your wedding day, we’ll must add an addendum to your contract outlining the specific breeds we’re unable to allow, along with other applicable terms and conditions. Your dog may arrive before the ceremony but is not permitted inside the Inn or guest suites at any time — outdoor areas only. Following the ceremony and photos, the dog must leave the property; dogs cannot stay on-site, indoors or outdoors, during cocktail hour or the reception, both for the comfort of our other guests and because the noise and atmosphere of the celebration isn’t a good environment for your pet. Rose Hill Inn reserves the right to ask that the dog leave the property at any time if its behavior affects the comfort or experience of our guests.
Booking & Planning
Because Rose Hill Inn hosts a limited number of weddings each year to preserve an intimate, unhurried experience, most couples book 12–18 months in advance. That said, we currently have select spring and summer 2027 dates available, so it’s worth reaching out even if your timeline is shorter.
